“About the sharethanksgiving dinner, that was an incredible good idea. When I told my husband and my mother about it they were not very into it but I convinced them and now they also believe it was a good idea. To tell you the truth I was a little bit scare myself because you never know what could happened, if they going to like you or not or if you both would feel comfortable around each other. Well all my questions were answered that day and we had a great experience. Our host and her husband are very nice, we chat like for around three hours, we told them about our experience in Canada, she told us about hers and let me tell you she is a very successful woman!

We became friends on LinkedIn and we are also inviting them for dinner in our apartment. Oh I almost forgot to tell you about the children, on our way to the club my 6 year old and her 6 year old did not speak to each other but on the way back the adults could not speak because the children were talking all the way back to my apartment, they even invited each other to their birthday parties, jajajjajajaja.

So you should continue doing this kind of activities, is a great thing to meet people out of your community and expand your network.

“Hi Parker and Kyle. We had a great time hosting our guest, her husband and his mother for Thanksgiving. They were from Shanghai, and had never been in a Canadian home. They arrived here 16 months ago. We had some interesting discussions about several topics. I think this is a great idea!”

“I thought it was great. We had a group of about 10 and were matched with one person. She fit in really well with everyone and it was great. My only suggestion would be to pair or triple people up if they are solo. It is quite daunting for someone to be the only guest, joining a large group that are all familiar with each other or family. That’s my only comment. But I think our guest was very brave to not cancel (as she said she had considered doing when she learned it was just her). We all had a great time. I would definitely host again. I plan to stay in touch with our guest.”
